So I decided to make a blog….a blog for people who care about books.
I know, I know! There are LOADS of book blogs available! So what makes mine different? If you want the honest answer? God knows!
I suppose I better introduce myself…
Well my name is Catherine Jakuta. I am 26 and I am English. Interesting things about me? Well, I was born in England, moved to Ireland when I was 22 and then moved back to England after three years. I live with my boyfriend Chris 💏 (everyone is trying to marry us off to each other👰) and I have a 6 year old stepson, Eli, who is at the “mad about Superheroes” stage. I have a Yorkshire Terrier 🐶 (or as I fondly refer to him Yorkshire Terror) named Sir Bixby Huffington. He is 3 and he is a mad’un. I am a hobby artist, I draw portraits for pleasure and sometimes for commission.
Hmmm….what else….I REALLY want a Fiat 500L….In my dreams!❤❤❤
That is enough of that nonsense. On to the important stuff.
What are your favourite books? Let me know! I love to hear what people have read and what they love. I have to admit this is a very hard question for me, mainly because I have read so many. It might sound old hat, but mine are the Harry Potter books. There is something about those books which transports me to the places written down, as if they are real and I have visited before. The pictures conjured (pardon the pun) in my head are so vivid, that I never needed the movies (although they were pretty darn good!).
What are your favourite genres? Easiest question! I LOVE mystery/thriller books. I must have got that from my mum because she loves them too. There is nothing like a good intense book with lots of gory murders! My worst genre in fiction would be romance….I always find them a little too cheesy.
📖At the moment I am reading The Prisoner of Paradise by Romesh Gunesekera. I guess this is historical fiction with a side of romance? I’m not enjoying it at the moment, it has to be said, but I am muddling through, mostly due to my boyfriend challenging me to finish it. I might change my mind, we will find out within the next couple of days.
I decided a while back (probably about 5 years ago) that I would NEVER judge a book by its cover. I started at my local library and I took the first book from the ‘Fiction’ section. It was ‘The Book of Tomorrow’ by Cecelia Ahern. I cannot remember for the life of me what it was about, all I can remember is that I enjoyed it….and the name of the book obviously! It then hit me! I can enjoy genres other than mystery/thrillers. I now refuse to read the blurb or judge the cover.
I reckon it is time that I stopped blabbing on and let you get on with commenting 😉
Please do tell me your favourite books/genres and introduce yourselves to me! I need to widen my book-loving community to more than just me!
